You can order your own custom made 'wood & word sign'.

Anything is possible; [your name] [just a word] [a message for your lover] [love] [something stupid] [something funny] [your life motto]

having fun doing the dishes

With the Everyone Came to Tea towel, it's fun doing the dishes (singing this song).

Tonight on the menu;
green asparagus from the garden of Villa Augustus.
Yay, and it will taste even better in our backyard.
Have a nice (sunny) Easter weekend everyone!

on the wall

on the wall, originally uploaded by wood & wool stool.

The Villa Augustus Easter and Mothersday brunch invitations, illustrated by Dorine de Vos are funny and cheerful masterpieces as usual. Therefore they are pinned on the wall.

Also very special is the birth card of Pippa Rose, it is printed on growing paper. The seeds inside the paper become flowers. (when sown at least, but first just enjoy it a few days hanging there on the wall)

stair stage

Amsterdam, final chapter;
Walking along the canals,
we spotted a flamingo
we found 'de Weldaad'
located on the Noordermarkt.
It's a beautiful store
with a diverse collection of
old doors,
chairs,
cabinets,
tiny vases,
and an 'orange' console, which we've taken home.
We ate delicious Indonesian food at Kantjil
and took the NDSM ferry back.
It was another great day in Amsterdam.

from africa with love

from africa with love, originally uploaded by wood & wool stool.

After lunch at the IJ-kantine we had a wonderful boat trip on the NDSM ferry to the city center of Amsterdam.

Starting with a walk through the Haarlemmerstraat and back along the Brouwersgracht, where we happened to meet Mariette, owner of From Africa With Love.

She invited us in her home & gallery with handmade, recycled products from South Africa.

The collection consists of beautiful and original handmade lighting (Magpie) and furniture (Adobe), home and kitchen textiles (Skinny Laminx).

I fell in love with the Magpie lights and yellow coffee table.

We were more than pleasantly surprised by this visit and Mariette radiates sincere Love From Africa.

van dijk & ko

van dijk & ko, originally uploaded by wood & wool stool.

Amsterdam is always fun.

After a visit to Neef Louis we have enjoyed almost everything at Van Dijk & Ko.
This place is full of the most beautiful old furniture mainly from Hungary.

Old stools stacked to the ceiling. Light colored glassware and the most amazing baby furniture.

More than an hour later, we left the building with two stools (difficult choice), a Hungarian vase and two consoles and had lunch at the IJ-kantine.
(to be continued...)

lieve briefjes

lieve briefjes, originally uploaded by wood & wool stool.

Pippa writes notes.
As long as she can write,
about anything and everything.
Sometimes in the evening
I find notes like these on top of the stairs;
"Please, please can I have a dog?" (or kitten)
"Mom do you want to wake me up tomorrow at 7:00?"
"Sorry....... xxx"

But yesterday when I got home from work late,
she surprised me again with an 'old-fashioned' one.

"hi mom! ♥
look what i've made
for you at school, hihi!
see you tomorrow ♥
love you Pips!"

The same thirteen year old daughter,
who I sometimes caught late at night sending tweets to her friends
(while I was thinking she's already asleep for hours).

I love that pink flower but the sweet note even more!
(another one to keep)

tea for two

tea for two, originally uploaded by wood & wool stool.

It's raining (again)
and it's cold even with a cardigan.
Time for tea,
with dark chocolate
in my best cups
tea for two
Why 4 cups?
So you can choose your own naked girl...

i spy with my little eye and i see something...orange

Today Henk came back from the market with a few bunches of orange ranunculus.

Well, a little orange in the house can't hurt...
